A headwoman in need

Last week Kevin and I were able to go to Chongwe and give a BGR bucket to the local headwoman.  She can not walk and is almost all the way blind.  As we pulled things out of the bucket I handed them to her so she could feel each item.  As we talked with her we found out she was a believer.  We enjoyed talking with her and her husband who was in the other room.  Her daughter is the one who is caring for her parents.  Please pray for this family as you think of it.

Teaching on Gideon

Thursday I was able to go out in a rural area and teach at an associational women’s meeting.  It was so nice to be out with rural women!  I taught from Judges 6-7 on Gideon.  I did 3 lessons.  The first one was on how God called Gideon as an ordinary man to do an extraordinary job and how even though he didn’t see himself as a mighty warrior what was important was how God saw him.  Then I talked about self-image and God’s image a bit.

My second talk was about tearing down the idols in our life.  At the end of that we had about 20 women go outside and draw a circle on the ground and step inside of it.  Then I prayed for all of us that God would begin a revival in Zambia and that it would start in each of us. My last talk was on Gideon defeating the Midianites and how we can win the battles we face.

I only stayed for the day but it was nice.  I left at 7am and got home at 7pm.  I was exhausted but it was fun!  They gave me a huge bag of potatoes and then a live chicken!
Above is a picture of some of the women.  They all didn't come out for the picture.

A couple of days at the Lake

This week we went to Lake Kariba for a couple of days.

We stayed on this houseboat with another family who is serving in Siavonga.

left to right:  Anna, Emily, Taylor, and Hannah

We stopped out in the middle of the lake and the kids jumped off in to the water and swam in this little drop down pool.

Justin jumping from the top of the boat.

We saw several people out on the lake.

Elephant Orphanage

This week we took Justin to the elephant orphanage here in Lusaka.  They have 4 small elephants that they are caring for until they put them back out in to the wild after they get older.

When they first come up their caretakers give them a bottle of milk.  They drink it very fast!

 This one was thirsty!

I love how he had his back legs crossed while he ate.

On the way home we passed by all these hay bales.  I think they look so beautiful when they are lined up like this for as far as the eyes can see!
