Beaufort, SC

This past weekend Kevin and I ventured out on a little get away to Beaufort, SC.  We only had a couple of days so we crammed a lot into a short time.  We drove about 20 min. to go to the beach.  We saw this lighthouse and decided to climb to the top.  This particular lighthouse has been there since 1873!

I have never really been afraid of heights but as we climbed the stairs which were not solid(you could see through them) it kind of freaked me out a little the higher we got.  Here I am at the top.

This is the view over to the side of the top of the trees.

Looking down from the top.

We enjoyed a couple of hours out on the beach.

This is the little house we stayed in.

We took a historic carriage ride through the downtown area.  This was a lot of fun and we learned a lot too.

A long time ago they hung pirates from this tree!

Here is an example of the kind of historic homes we saw on our ride.  Because this area has the most antebellum homes in the south this town is also where many movies are filmed such as The Big Chill, Forrest Gump, The Prince of Tides, The Great Santini, Something to talk about, and many others.
This tree is over 1000 years old!

We enjoyed visiting the Choc. Tree after our carriage ride.
